1. What BetaWork is

BetaWork is a marketplace. Customers post jobs and workers send quotes. Workers are independent professionals, not BetaWork employees. The contract for the work is between the customer and the worker.

2. Accounts

You must be 18 or older and give accurate details. Workers must pass identity verification (NIN and selfie) before quoting. One person, one account.

3. Quotes, payment and escrow

• Prices are agreed in the app. Payment is collected by Paystack and held until the job is complete.
• If a worker asks for materials money upfront, that amount is released to them when you pay.
• When the worker marks the job done, you have 72 hours to confirm or report a problem. If you do neither, payment is released automatically.
• Paying or accepting payment outside BetaWork for a job found on BetaWork is not allowed and removes escrow and dispute protection.

4. Fees

Posting jobs and receiving quotes is free for customers. When a customer pays, a service fee is added to cover payment processing and bank transfer costs. It is shown before payment, is between ₦100 and ₦2,100, and is not refunded if the customer cancels after paying (it is refunded if a payment arrives for a job that was already cancelled). Workers pay a commission (currently 10%) on labour and inspection fees, deducted before payout. Materials are not commissioned. Fees may change with notice in the app.

5. Cancellations and refunds

BetaWork guarantee. If work paid for through BetaWork fails within 24 hours of completion, the customer can claim free rework in the app within that time. Claims after 24 hours are not covered. The worker who did the job must return and fix it at no cost to the customer within 24 hours of the claim, and BetaWork support contacts both people within 24 hours. By taking jobs on BetaWork, workers agree to this. If the worker does not return in time, BetaWork may send another verified worker, and repeated failures can lead to suspension. If the work cannot be fixed, BetaWork may refund the customer from its own funds. The guarantee does not cover new damage, misuse, or problems unrelated to the original job.

Referrals. Each member has a referral code. A new member can enter one code within 14 days of joining. When they complete their first paid job, both people receive ₦1,000 of credit, used automatically on the customer's service fee or the worker's commission. Credit has no cash value. A member can earn referral credit for up to 20 people. BetaWork may withdraw credit gained through fake accounts or self-referral.

Customers can cancel before the worker starts and receive a full refund of money held, except the service fee, materials money already released and inspection fees for visits that took place. Refunds go back to the original payment method.

6. Disputes

Either party can open a dispute on a paid, active job. Payment stays on hold while BetaWork reviews the evidence (messages, photos, check-in records). Our decision on how held funds are split is final within the platform, without affecting your legal rights.

7. Conduct

No harassment, discrimination, fraud, fake reviews or unsafe work. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

8. Liability

BetaWork verifies identities and holds payments but does not perform the work. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the fees we earned on the job in question.
