Privacy policy

BetaWork (“we”) connects customers in Lagos with verified skilled workers. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
Data we collect
- Account: name, phone number, optional email, area, profile photo.
- Jobs: job descriptions, photos, voice notes, address and location (your exact address is shared only with the worker you book).
- Workers’ identity checks: NIN (we keep only the last 4 digits), a selfie, and the result of the check from our verification provider.
- Payments: payment references, amounts and status from Paystack. We never see or store your card details. For workers: bank name, account name and the last 4 digits of the account number.
- Messages between customers and workers, and with our support team.
- Device: push notification token, crash reports and basic usage analytics.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
- To provide the service you asked for: matching, quotes, escrow payments, payouts (contract).
- To verify workers and prevent fraud, and to keep financial records (legal obligation and legitimate interest).
- To send job updates by push, SMS and WhatsApp (consent; you can turn WhatsApp and push off in the app).
- To draft job descriptions with an AI assistant when you tap “Write it up for me” (consent, per request).
Who we share it with
Only processors needed to run BetaWork, under data-processing agreements: Supabase (hosting and database), Paystack (payments and payouts), our identity-verification provider, Termii (SMS codes), Meta (WhatsApp messages), Google Firebase (push notifications and crash reports) and Anthropic (AI job drafting). Some processors store data outside Nigeria; we rely on the NDPA’s cross-border transfer safeguards. We do not sell your data.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove or anonymise your personal data within 30 days. Payment and payout records are kept for the period required by Nigerian tax and financial law, but in a form that no longer identifies you.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, withdraw consent, and object to processing. Use Account → Delete my account in the app, or request deletion on our website. You can also email support@betawork.com.ng. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted by role, and admin actions are logged. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the NDPC as the law requires.
